The NERCP is a criminal intelligence system for North East retailers. As well as the Coalition, the partnership includes retailers from across the region, Cleveland Police, Durham Constabulary, Northumbria Police and others involved in crime reduction.

The aim is for all those involved to share information on the whereabouts and activities of known offenders in the region in order to reduce retail crime.

The NERCP also works closely with similar schemes in other parts of the UKand shares intelligence wherever possible.

The scheme operates strictly within and is a registered user under the provisions of the Data Protection Act.

The NERCP has achieved a Safer Shopping Award through an accreditation scheme introduced by the Home Office and the British Retail Consortium.
